TOK: Chapter 8Aura and Lilly, with a small back-pack full of small mice and voles and insects, trudged into a small room that was in the hall. (Out of story: the room is |, and hall is -: ---|||---) Suddenly, they heard a scream, and an owl carrying an elf owl flew into the room at the speed of light, or so Aura thought. The force of his flight made a force so strong it lifted the two owlets off the ground then down again. The owl carrying the elf owl left as quickly as he came.
"Whew, that scared me for a second," Lilly said, panting for breath. "But what was he doing, carrying a screaming owl by a talon?" aura wondered, looking at the ceiling. "Don't know. Let's go."
Aura started walking. Suddenly, she fell through a hidden hole and landed with a loud thump! "Aura, you okay?" Lilly asked, peering down.
"Umm can you get up?"
"No, I don't think so. It's weird. It's like a little room and I hear a panting getting closer and closer "
Suddenly, a huge thing leapt out of the sha
TOK: Chapter 7The owls flew to a room where they would hunt and be judged. Anala desperately thought of her losing. What would happen?
Kudos was sure he would win. Even if he didn't, he was still royalty and wouldn't be exiled or killed. He couldn't be a maid; that was females' work.
They got in the room. The barn owls could hear plenty of voles with their remarkable hearing. Maybe she would be okay, Anala thought.
"Your job is to catch a vole. Last one, you are the weak and shall be eliminated." Asula said. Anala feverishly kept thinking, I can't be the last! I can't!
"Well what are you waiting for?" Asula asked. "Go!"
Kudos took off in high speed. He knew he was going to win; he felt it in his gizzard. He suddenly heard the rapid beating of a scared vole just below him, and dove. He extended his talons as he dove. Kudos pounced on the vole. He could feel his claws sinking in
Kudos flew back to his mother. "One down!" she announced, brimming with pride for her son.
Anala knew she
TOK: Chapter 6"Ah, new soldiers. Perfect." Asula said as she analyzed the snatched owls who could fly. "Perfect."
Anala's gizzard twinged. Ever since she found out that this barn owl, the lead owl of King Kingdom, or at least one of them, was her aunt, she was almost afraid of them.
"Strong, probably strong fliers as well," Asula mumbled, pacing across the line of six fully fledged owls. "You. Let me feel your wings."
Anala stated to tremble with fear. She stretched out her wings. Asula preened them, and ran her beak across them. "Yes, a strong flier. Have you ever flown before.?"
Shakily, Anala nodded yes. Her gizzard swam with dread.
"Aren't you Clara's daughter?" Asula asked, staring into Anala's eyes. "Y-yes." Anala said. "Yes, my sister." Asula said.
She flew back to the front of the owls. "You're first training mission is to go into a room and catch a vole. It doesn't really sound much like training, but that way we can eliminate the weak, and keep the strong."
An elf owl started to tremble. H
TOK: Chapter 5The stone chamber grew dark as the day fell, and night began. It was time for the owlets to wake up.
Aura and Lilly did not sleep at all, and they were extremely tired. It was a small risk, ok, maybe a large risk to keep their minds.
The two owlets looked around at the other baby owls. Their eyes were very glassy, and they had strange voices, only if they talked at all. Stone stunned owls barely talked.
"Okay, start coming down!" a Long eared owl barked. "We will then assign you're jobs."
The owlets started walking down. What was ahead?
"You're jobs are taking these bags of food to the soldiers." A female snowy owl told Lilly and Aura, nodding. The Snowy owl, name Nyceata, noticed something strange about these two. Their eyes seemed different than the others, not as glassy. There glassy eyes seemed to be like they were faking it, as well as their voice.
"Thank you," Lilly said. "Yes, thank you." Aura said, dipping her beak.
Nyceata felt a twinge in her gizzard. The two owls, a Barn
TOK: Chapter 4Lilly sighed as she walked in line with the other young owlets to the stone chamber where they were to have the 'comfortable sensation.'
"What do you think it means?" Aura whispered. "I don't know," Lilly said truthfully.
"Hey," a female snowy owl said. "No talking."
Lilly and Aura just walked faster, away from the owl to talk again. "This place creeps me out." Lilly said, shivers going up her spine. "I know, right?"
Aura already missed her sister Anala and her parents. Her other sisters and brother were in another place of the line. Kudos and Anala were in a group of older owls, to begin training. Aura didn't think she would ever be able to talk to Kudos without shivers. Asula and Kudos the leader, her aunt and uncle! It sent shivers up her spine.
After passing many holes and passage ways and turning through some of them, they reached a gigantic stone chamber, with no windows and no openings at all.
"Okay, just go on ledges. We'll tell you what to do." The Snowy owl said uglyly.
TOK, Chapter 3The owls flew on for what seemed like hours. The Snatchers and the Great Gray talked roughly as they shook the chicks or the adults.
Pretty soon, the owls got a feeling that they were being watched. Not by the owls who took them- but by others. Aura's sharp hearing abilities picked them up, and she started whispering to Lilly.
"I- I feel like I'm being watched. Do you?" she asked.
"Yes," Lily said, trembling in fear. What if she never got to see her parents again? They were the only family she had. At least that she knew of. "I'm scared of never seeing my parents again."
"Me too," agreed Aura. She would be heartbroken if she never got to see her parents.
"Hey- shut your beak, or I'll shut it for ya." The owl carrying Aura said, shaking her. Although Aura didn't see, she felt her mother stiffen with anger. But Aura could understand. They shouldn't talk to a fuzzy downy little owlet. It was just plain rude.
As the owls flew on, the terrain began to get rockier. There were more battle
TOK- Chapter 2"WH-what are you doing here?" Tyler sputtered.
"We've come to take you to the fortress." The lead one said. He was a Great Gray owl, and he was one of the High 20.
"But why?" Clara asked, trembling. She kept close to her owlets and Lara and Lily.
"No whys. We are trying to get as much soldiers. Didn't Asula tell you?"
Aura had no idea who Asula was. She did know that these were the feared King Kingdom owls, and she suspected Lilly did too.
"You can't." Lara said, surprisingly with no hint of fear in it.
"You're right. You can't take us!" Alora cried.
"Oh yes we can!" Kudos cried. Aura looked at him strangely. Since when did he support these owls?
"We can take you." the leader said. Mumbles of agreement swept through the dozen owls.
"No." Clara said, her voice trembling. "We'll hide, and"
"You can be killed." The Great Gray said. "You want to come, or be killed?"
The adult owls looked at each other. They were out numbered, and the other owls had battle claws. What could they do? With he
TOK: Chapter 1"Mom, please please tell the story of Ga'Hoole?" the little barn owl chick asked. "Please?"
The owl mother sighed. Why had she told them about Ga'Hoole? She doubted it was real; and anyways it was a story for another kingdom. "Sorry, no " she said.
"Why?" the little fuzzy chick cried. Her name was Aura.
"Please, Aunt Clara, please!" the short-eared owl chick cried. Her name was Lilly, and she was Aura's best friend. Clara, the mother, sighed again.
"Leave her alone," scolded Aura's older sister, Anala. She was fledged and ready to fly. The two owlets glared at her. "What?" she asked, pretending not to know why they were looking at her with such a glare.
"You know why." Aura said firmly.
"Wh-what?" Boomer, Aura's brother, said sleepily. "We're trying to get Aunt Clara to tell the stories of Ga'Hoole." Lilly said primly.
"Lilly!" Lily's mother, Lara, said. "Don't talk that way."
"But, Mom -" Lilly started, but was stopped when two owl hoots sounded as two large male owls flew into t
TOK, ProlgueHave you ever heard of the Hoolian Kingdoms? If you haven't, they are a kingdom of owls, and many other animals. There are different sub-kingdoms there. There are the Middle Kingdom, Tyto, Kuneer, Silverveil, and many more. There is a large sea called Hoolemere, with the biggest tree ever grown in the middle of it. Enough about that. This story mostly is in a cmpletly undiscovered place, south of the sourthern kingdoms.
That kingdom is known as the King Kingdom. Why, you ask? Because it is ruled by a kingdom of cruel owls. Those owls are cruel. They take young owls and train them to be soldiers, or maybe slaves. They start training when they can fly. When the females get too old, or if a female is captured when she is more than 3 years old, they are put work to be maids. Males were soldiers until they turned white with age. They had social order as well: The first were the two barn owl leaders, Asula and Kudos. The next were the two helpers. The next after that was the High 20. That co
